Samantha Brogan

Samantha “Sam” Brogan is a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner with a strong background in holistic and functional medicine. She has over 20 years of experience in healthcare. Sam earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Widener University in 1998. Later, she completed her Master’s in Nursing at Shenandoah University in 2013.

For more than a decade, she worked in family medicine in Southern Maryland. During that time, she discovered the therapeutic value of simply listening. This experience, in turn, shaped her patient-centered care philosophy and deepened her connection with those she served.

Sam’s interest in functional medicine began in 2016. It started after she read the best-selling book Wheat Belly by Dr. William Davis. The book introduced her to the powerful connection between diet and chronic pain. At the time, she was struggling with persistent neck and back pain. However, after following the dietary advice from the book, she experienced significant relief. As a result, she no longer needed high-dose anti-inflammatory medication. This personal success motivated her to learn more. Consequently, she began sharing what she had discovered with her patients, many of whom also saw encouraging results.

In 2022, Sam took a major step in her functional medicine journey. She enrolled in the “Applying Functional Medicine in Clinical Practice” program through the Institute for Functional Medicine. Since then, she has completed all the required core modules. Moreover, she plans to sit for the final certification exam in April 2024. Her current focus is on creating personalized wellness plans. These plans help patients address the root causes of illness, improve nutrition, and make long-term lifestyle changes. Ultimately, her goal is to prevent, manage, and even reverse chronic disease through functional approaches.

Sam is licensed to practice in both Maryland and South Carolina. In addition, she is deeply passionate about helping individuals regain their health through evidence-based, natural strategies. Her approach combines traditional family medicine with functional medicine principles. This whole-person method, therefore, supports sustainable, long-term healing.

Outside of work, Sam enjoys a peaceful and faith-driven life. She loves serving Jesus, walking on the beach, and watching the sunrise. Furthermore, she’s a fan of sports—especially NASCAR. Her hobbies also include traveling, yoga, and reading.
