Samantha Brogan

Samantha “Sam” Brogan is a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner. She graduated from Widener University in 1998 with a Bachelor’s degree in nursing and from Shenandoah University in 2013 with a master’s degree in nursing. She has spent the last 10 years working in family medicine in Southern Maryland where she learned the therapeutic power of listening.

Sam’s journey into functional medicine began in 2016 after reading Dr. William Davis’s book “Wheat Belly.” After implementing the strategies outlined in the book and recognizing what she was taking to help treat the pain was actually making it worse, she was able to stop taking high-dose anti-inflammatories for chronic neck and back pain. Encouraged by the results she experienced, Sam continued to learn more about functional medicine and began sharing these new ideas with her patients, who also saw positive outcomes.

In 2022, Sam enrolled in the Applying Functional Medicine in Clinical Practice module offered by the Institute for Functional Medicine. She has since completed all the necessary modules to become certified as an Institute for functional Medicine Certified Practitioner and plans to sit for certification in April 2024.

Sam is passionate about empowering patients to harness the power of lifestyle changes to prevent and reverse disease. She is licensed to practice in Maryland and South Carolina.

Outside of work, Sam enjoys serving Jesus, walks on the beach, watching the sunrise, watching sports especially NASCAR, travel, yoga and reading.
